B I O G R A P H Y
Known for her intense and compelling performance ethic, Pianist, Conductor and Organist Leora Nauta delivers powerful interpretations of the music she loves. Radio Ara Europa describes her as "an exceptional musician... warm, open, and absolutely impassioned in her craft."
A dedicated advocate for classical music, Leora has devoted her career to sharing the classical tradition with students and audiences worldwide. She holds three music degrees, from McGill University, The University of Notre Dame, and King's University. She pursued further graduate study at the Amsterdam Conservatory of the Arts and The New England Conservatory in Boston. Her solo performance career has taken her to Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Scandinavia, and across the USA and Canada. Her 2014 performance at the National Cathedral of Luxembourg was radio broadcast throughout Europe, with other performance highlights being featured on NPR and CBC radio. Her recordings can be heard through SoundCloud and YouTube.
As music educator, Leora seeks to broaden cultural awareness of classical music. Teaching with an infectious love of music, she invites students into a deeper understanding of our musical roots, and what those traditions mean to us today and in the future. She has held lecturer positions at McGill University, The New England Conservatory of Music, the University of Notre Dame, and Roosevelt University. Several of her students have gone on to The Juilliard School of Music, The Curtis Institute, and McGill University.
Leora was formerly the Music Associate at Christ Church Cathedral in Ottawa, and Director of Music at St. Timothy’s Classical Academy. She now works closely with the Steinway Gallery of Ottawa to provide the highest caliber classical music experience to her piano and voice students.
